Make your friend a gift.
This is a way to thank someone for being there for you as well as get your creative juices flowing. You could make a scrapbook, paint them a picture, write a song especially for them, puffy paint jokes on a tee shirt, buy them a flowerbox for their window (full of flowers, of course), or any array of small but significant ways to let them know you care.
Watch a cheesy friendship movie.
Pull out a sappy old favorite like "Beaches" or "Fried Green Tomatoes" and watch it with a bunch of girlfriends. Or, even better, watch "Sex and the City" or other shows that can spark conversation, laughs, and gasps of horror. Eat ice cream and Cheetos and other things you know to be bad for you and talk, talk, talk.
Play truth or dare.
The most fun when you get a large group of friends together, play the game of swearing to tell the truth or accepting a silly dare to learn more about the people you love the most. All in good fun, of course.
Do the Random Acts of Kindness thing.
That's right. Pay for lunch, pick up their dry cleaning, send them flowers - all of these things you do for a friend for no specific purpose but to remind them how much you care. You can easily do the same with strangers, and you'll feel just as good.
Volunteer together.
Why not actually help change the world like the two of you talked about doing in college? Share time with a friend while helping out the Boys' Club, or the Girl Scouts, or other organizations in your community that desparately need volunteers.
